Barbarian experience in 6 v6

Is it me or do Barbarians get the worst deal for points in 6 v 6. Guarding (Especially North) towers get you nothing. If your on the Blue team your not going to cause much damage to the Steam Driver before it punches you out. Your only hope of getting damage is to be on the Red team. Ranged attackers will pick you off fairly easy unless your in a mob. All in all i think Barbs are hard pushed to get points here unless they are wearing the very best armour for their level and/or have exceptional weapons. :O(

 

I agree. As a very tankish DK, I score pretty low on the 6v6 defend matches many times. When I have scored high, this is how I've done it:

1) Get kills and try not to die: sneak up on people while they're shooting at towers

2) Activate Banner of War and DH: pound the snot out of the Steam Driver.

On red team it's pretty easy. I just build up rage, activate DH and charge the key structures. I try to hit/kill enemy defenders with my Dragon Furies, Smashes and Mighty Wild Swings at the same time I'm taking down the structures. As my DH is about to expire, I prepare to retreat from the area and try to survive. If I live, I return to do some harassing attacks on the structures and defending players.

 

I think 6v6 is just pretty unbalanced now. Attacking team wins nearly all the time.

 

Agreed. There has to be high team power imbalance (in favor of blue team), and a good defense strategy (stop them at the bridge), to win on defense.

 

What annoys me most is the fact that as the only truly melee character class the other three can just shoot up either Towers or Steam Driver racking up points with high damage weapons, whereas a Barb has to go toe to toe with a weapon that causes negligable damage, regardless of a barbs higher armour towers seem to kill easily 2/ 3 hits, regardless of your level. Barbs should get at least double experience points in my book !!!

 

Guess you don't know how to play a DK in 6v6 lol. Different people use different builds. Should Rangers and SWs complain they can't carry flags with dragon hide immunity?

 

Well if you want to take it to a personal level I have run successful PvP Guilds in Guild Wars where SKILL counts for more than equipment, lol.
I didn't realise you could carry flags in 6 v 6 lol, which is the SUBJECT of the thread, a whole 8 seconds of immunity WOW, impressive.

All casters need to do to rack up points in 6v6 is just spam Towers or Steam driver, you missed my point completely !

 

If you're on the blue team, 95% of the time you're gonna lose anyway. Just from my experience.

And as a DK, it is kinda rough trying to rack up points, but can be done.

When y'all talk of flags, do you mean the banner of war skill? If so, and you didn't know you can use it, Than NightWalker is correct. You really don't know how to use a DK in 6v6. No offense

 

Talk to Nightwalker about flags, he was trying to justify that one imbalance can be offset by another, which is no solution to any problem. !!!!

Well thanks for vindicating the fact its hard for a Barb to rack up points which was the original point of the thread.

No offence, but you really havent understood what this thread is about, highlighting the fact that Barbs struggle to gain points in 6 v 6 unlike the other 3 classes, just highlighting the imbalance.

 

Was I talking about 6v6 when I was saying carrying flags? If you ever played 5v5 please make the connection. Also, skill counts here in draken. I've been beating people with stronger stats all the time. I guess someone just doesn't have it so they don't understand

P.S. I did play DK as defender. My suggestion is you will lose so ignore the steam drivers and just go for the kills. It works really well cause no other class can charge straight into a DK without dying.

LOL - Why would any ranged class character want to attempt a 'charge' into a Barb...!

I can score 700-900 points spamming Towers or Driver with a Sorc or Ranger (havent rolled a Mech yet) with the most basic of equipment. A barb could never do this and would average 200-300 points if it tried.

Barbs do get a raw deal in 6v6 however you try to twist it, FACT.

 

If you can't score enough points in 6v6 ... then don't play it.
The reason why you can't get a lot of points in 6v6 is probably because you don't know how to play it. DK's usually don't go for a kill there ... instead they are looking for fast win ... but if you want to kill players, destroy towers and get more damage points you have to be equipped properly.
In a matter of fact SW's are getting more points than the other classes ... because of stun points. But not it isn't only in 6v6 ... it is in every other pvp mode. But even that doesn't mean necessarily SW's can always get most of the points.
I see a lot of DK's taking most of the points in 6v6.
Why should be every pvp mode ... suitable for DK's? If you can't score points in 6v6 ... play 5v5, 3v3 or 1v1 ... especially 3v3 and 1v1 where DK's can enter in "god mode".

8 seconds in fight that can last for 2 minutes is a lot of time.

To kill it ... at least that is what I am doing.

No you cannot score high points with the "most basic equipment" ... no matter what class you are playing.

Not true. Maybe it is only you ... but probably you are still a noob to this game.


BTW Conan is barbarian ... we have a class called Dragon Knight or sometimes we call it warrior.

 

An inspirational comment full of arrogant nonsense, you put equipment in front of skill a mistake a lot of egomaniacs in this game make. Equipment is no substitute for skill.

The point I make with Basic equipment (you can try it yourself) is you will always score more points with the 3 caster classes than as melee unles you have exceptional equipment. If you cant see this basic fault (Which isn't a fault as far as the game developers are concerned in selling their wares, lol) then I wish you well in your ignorance.

Sure play 1v1 2v2 ...etc, but this thread concerns 6 v 6, please stay on topic another basic mistake made when trying to address an issue.

Thanks for your input but you fail to address the issue of imbalance in a constructive way, you are off topic and way off the mark in analysing the game mechanics correctly.

 

I also must add there are no "Barbs" in this game

In addition, it is an basic part of this game's design that character builds are gear driven.

The level of achievement in any part of this game, e.g. high honour points in 6v6, is tied to the quality of ones gear.

Certainly skill is a factor. I am not (nor will ever be) the most skillful player around. I always get my due though because my top toons have killer gear

I love being on red as a 2H DK in this game... I regularly out score Flagbearers and Marshals as an Seasoned Cent by doing nothing but attacking structures. It is not uncommon for me to have 1.5-2 times the amount of damage done for the match as my team mates because of the wonders of being a 2H DK. So the truth is that a 1H DK has no place in 6v6, but a 2H DK can clean house!

And on a side note... I'm only a decent 2H DK. Look at a DK like GoodMood (GamesShortCut) any you'll see just how much a DK can own 6v6 on the red side.

 

No, just have no idea what everyone is trying to say. You insult others for trying to help you, but you don't want to listen. You, sir, are on a noob level. Take the advice how ever you wish, but please quit criticizing others for there help and years of knowledge on this particular game.

 

Maybe you should consider reaching endgame, before starting to complain about imbalance between classes.
And as Trailboss1 says, stop insulting people for coming with their opinions, when you were the one who asked for it.

But there is one thing where i really disagree, "Equipment is no substitute for skill".
There is A LOT of P2W who uses lots of money, and still play like a newbie. And they end up being unbeatable anyway, skills can´t compensate for being 1-hitted by a P2W.
This game hardly requires 1 week of play before you should be able to play properly. If you really wanna talk about playing skillfull, 1vs1 or 3vs3 is the place to go. That should take a week of playing hardcore 1vs1 in endgame, then you should be somewhat good at it. But an unbeatable opponent is unbeatable. Skills can´t compensate for time and money in this game.

To me, it seems like you have played a couple of onlinegames before. My guess is that you also have played D3, that is propably where you have the funny name for DK´s, Barbs. Like the others also tell you, in this game, they are normally called something like DK´s, Knights, Warriors, War´s and Tanks
Just one thing you should know if you have played D3, and think this game is like it. DSO is nothing like D3, when it comes to reaching "endgame". In D3, it isn´t a problem to reach endgame, in this game you haven´t reached endgame before at least 6 months of farming.

Sure ... you are right. play 6v6 with basic (white) equipment you will own everyone.
